Electrical Design Engineer

As an experienced Electrical Design Engineer reporting directly to the Controls Engineering Manager your main responsibilities will include designing electrical systems utilizing PLC controls and servo drives for microfinishing machine tool and automation projects. Specifically you will be responsible for: • Preparing electrical detailed drawings in AutoCAD LT and/or EPLAN P8 • Liaise with shopfloor to determine the machine cable path routing and lengths • Updating fluidics detail drawings in AutoCAD LT and/or EPLAN P8 • Preparing electrical and fluidics Bill of Materials (BOM’s) • Preparing machine documentation (e.g. user manuals) • Ensure machine control system design meets to customer specifications and applicable standards (e.g. EN60204) Must have skills: • design 400V 3 phase electrical systems • design 24VDC control circuits • design of distributed IO systems in Profinet or Profibus • design safety circuits (e.g. PILZ safety relays, failsafe PLCs) Additional desirable skills: • good understanding of PLC and drive systems design following manufacturer recommendations • technical documentation writing skills Person Specification: • Self-motivated individual who can work on own initiative • Able to work under minimal supervision and to tight deadlines • Able to work on more than one project at one time due to a number of machines being built concurrently • Fluent in English and another language would be advantageous such as French / Spanish / German • Good organizational and communication skills Preference will be given to candidates who have a machine tool, automotive or automation background. Controls Engineer

As an experienced Controls Engineer reporting directly to the Controls Engineering Manager your main responsibilities will include designing electrical systems and PLC/HMI software for microfinishing machine tool and automation projects. In addition, you will be responsible for preparing electrical and fluidic equipment Bill of Materials (BOM's); commissioning machine equipment from power-up right through to completion; final machine commissioning at customer site (UK and overseas); preparing machine documentation (e.g. user manuals) and providing technical support to customers, sales, service and production departments. Person Specification: Self-motivated, dynamic individual who can work on own initiative; able to work under minimal supervision and to tight deadlines; demonstrate experience of problem solving and implementation of solutions; able to work on more than one project at one time due to a number of machines being built concurrently; fluent in English and another language would be advantageous such as French/Spanish/German; have a current driving licence; willingness to travel (UK and overseas);good organizational and communication skills; and be team player. Skills Requirement: PLC programming (LAD,STL) experience with Siemens S7-300, ET200 series PLCs; HMI programming experience with Siemens WinCC flexible 2008; experience with distributed IO systems (Profibus, Profinet); good understanding of safety circuits (safety relays, failsafe PLCs); setup and optimise servo/inverter drives (Sinamics S120, G120, etc) using Siemens Starter Tool; design/modify electrical schematics using AutoCAD and/or Eplan P8; technical documentation writing skills; and Good understanding of electrical standards for machinery design (e.g EN 60204) Preference will be given to candidates who have a machine tool, automotive or automation background.
